I know dairy is one of the basic food groups – but I think our family takes it to extremes. We always joke that cheese and butter are our fifth food group: They just make everything better.

I actually bought the ingredients for this Quick and Easy Cheddar-Bacon Cheese Ball for Christmas – but as always my plans were bigger than the time I had to do all. the. things. As such, I decided better late than never (and I hate wasting some good ingredients) so I made it on this random Tuesday afternoon in January. I’m just thankful that cheese and bacon don’t have a season like pumpkin or peppermint – because that is not a world I want to live in.

This literally took less than 15 minutes start to finish.

I love a quick recipe that is ridiculously good – and this one fits the bill. Besides softening the cream cheese and chopping the green onion and walnuts, everything else was ready to throw in to one mixing bowl.

Quick Tip: I bought packaged bacon bits to quicken the process. Prechopped pecans would also make this recipe even easier to throw together.

You likely already have all of the ingredients in your kitchen.

Just 9 simple ingredients make up this Quick and Easy Cheddar-Bacon Cheese Ball:

  • 16 ounces of softened cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • One green onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (can also use mild)
  • 1/4 cup bacon bits
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tbsp. parsley
step 1: soften your cream cheese and chop your onions and pecans.

NOTE: I chopped up some extra onions and pecans to combine with extra cheese and add a crumble coating on the surface of the cheese ball. If you want to do this, set some extra ingredients aside for later. (I put about 1/2 cup combined of chopped green onion, pecans, bacon, and cheese mixture on top of the cheeseball and coated it evenly.)

STEP 2: MIX ALL INGREDIENTS TOGETHER IN A MIXING BOWL.

step 3: shape ingredients into a ball.

NOW STEP 3: TO MAKE THIS CHEESE BALL EVEN PRETTIER, ADD A QUICK CRUMBLE LAYER ON THE OUTSIDE.

Again, simply chop up some extra onions, pecans, bacon and mix with extra cheese to make a pretty layer that ensures you get some great flavor in those first few bites.

Refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour – it won’t take much time to set up. It transfers fairly easily to a pretty wooden platter by using a spatula or just picking up with clean hands.
